Tea Smoked Chicken
20 min (not including 6 hour marination overnight) 4-5 SERVINGS
INGREDIENTS
- 1kg (1 packet) of Sadia Chicken Griller (whole chicken)
- 2 tsp of salt
- 2 tsp of chicken powder
- 2 tsp of 5-spice powder
- ¼ cup rice, to cook
- (½ cup chinese tea leaves
- 2 tbsp sugar
METHOD
- Before going to bed, marinate chicken with salt and chicken powder then leave it in the fridge overnight for roughly 6-7 hours.
- Steam chicken for 30 mins. Leave aside the chicken dripping for added flavour and seasoning later.
- Line wok with aluminum foil and throw in tea, rice and sugar while mixing it gently.
- Turn on the burner. Once smoke appears, continue smoking chicken for 8 mins, or until a bronze colour forms.
- Set aside for 10 mins. Cut up the chicken and dribble the chicken dripping you saved up all over the chicken. Serve with tea.
